New Clownfish (weak swimmers?)

My two new Clownfish seem to be struggling in my Biocube 32. They look like they are getting sucked into the sump but do the same even with everything completely off.

Any advice, or just give them time?

Give them time. Clowns are weird. I once saw one of mine laying on it's side on the sand bed. I thought it was dead till I tried to pick it up. Never saw him do that again. But mine like to hover like that a lot.

Clownfish love to swim up and down the back wall of a overflow. My pair does it 24 hours a day unless it is feeding time or someone is looking at the tank.

Clownfish like to stay in one spot and don't swim far, hence the small tank size requirement for them.

I believe I read that in the wild they live almost in a 2' cube.

Provided they will eat, Absolutely normal, when they have nothing to host they will back themselves into the corner of the tank for safety, or sometimes by the heater for the same reason.....as long as they eat......they are fine.

Maybe in the future, at least 12 months with stable water, you may want to add a BTA, and after some time they will stay in it.

Worry only when they stop eating......

I got my pair of clowns almost a month ago. No kidding, I spent the first 2 weeks researching "My clowns are doing stupid thing X are they ok?" and pretty much every single case turned out to be "Everything is fine, clownfish are just weird"

I don't know how true it is but someone at an LFS had the simple explanation of how heavily (and irresponsibly) they've been bred within their same lines over the last decade. /shrug, they are wonderful idiots, regardless

The swimming antics are what makes the clownfish such a great addition to a SW aquarium.
If any pair and then spawn....wait to you see this!

yeah my clowns never move far from a small rock over hang unless it is time to eat.
