New clownfish

I am thinking of buying new clownfish

I currently have two ocellaris clowns but they don't seem to be interested in my RBTA

I was thinking of trading my ocellaris for new clowns that might be more likely to host

I was thinking either a pair of captive bred maroons, tomato or cinammon clowns

Wanting to know which you think might be best

Thanks

Im partial to maroons because I have a pair

they are very beautiful, and have a class of theyre own (cheek spines)

Mine hosted before i could get the anemone even acclimated.

But they are also extreamely hard to pair for some people

Thanks for the replies

Can you buy a mated pair of clowns anywhere - ,ight be particularly helpfuul for the maroons

Mated clowns are gonna run your pocket. Most likely $100-$150. IMO its easier to buy 2 clowns at $15-$20/clown and have them pair up themselves.

some guy is selling their anemone and I guess this is how he trained his clowns to host the nems (not sure and never talked to this guy to confirm but i think it might work)

It shouldn't be hard. Just get a glass jar or breeder net.

Not sure what is meant by this - buy two clowns and then keep them very close together in a glass jar

Appreciate more details

Thanks

How much time have you given the Ocellaris clowns to host ? Some go instantly , some take months . Also have you tried puting a pic of the same species hosting on the tank ? Seems to work for some .

The ocellaris have been in the tank with the anenome (and clones) for about 2.5 years

No signs of interest in the anenomes

Maybe I will try a picture - I am under the impression that the BTA is not a natural host for the ocellaris and that is why I am considering another strain

MO Will,
Tomatos, cinamon, and maroons are natural hosters in BTAs if I'm not mistaken. Give those a whirl if you want.

Clowns will eventually host in almost anything, Mine love their torch coral but I guess 2 years is long enough to try something else...

Also, how large is you anemone(s) Many times clowns are more interrested in larger nems... they want a house in the suburbs!

If you want to get technical Heteractis magnifica , Stichodactyla gigantea , and Stichodactyla mertensii are natural hosts .

There are 4 anenomes in the tank

They just split about 1 month ago so they are small to medium right now

One thing is that they tend to get much bigger when the halide is on but then tend to get smaller and retreat back into the rockwork at night - I am not sure that it would be easy to host in them at night

Thanks
