I am late for work so I didn't do a search but I just got 2 nice oc clowns 4 days ago , my first real fish in a 8 week old setup with live rock and they are doing great, good colour, relaxed and eating well. The problem is they only eat brine shrimp and blood worms. I tried all kinds of other types of saltwater marine flakes and they just take in then spit it back out. is there anything I can do to mix this diet up? I read that worms and shrimp only is not a good diet.

Appreceiate any help,Thanks, Rob.

try pellets ...my ocellaris like it, they also like the flakes too but I got the flakes for my chromis because they don't like the pellets as much. I also feed them some fine chopped raw shrimp some times as a treat. I give them the pellets called ocean nutrition formula one and two. Not all fish take to the pellets, you may have to try a few times.

My common clown only ate brine shrimp for the first week, and then i started adding in marine flake food, and now he will accept either one i feed him... good luck with the new fish. Bunker

Try frozen Cyclopeeze and Mysis, as well.

Ocean Nutrition's Formula 1 is, to the best of my recollection, formulated specially for clownfish.

One thing you could try is soaking the flake in some RO water or Selcon before feeding, and make sure you break it up into smaller pieces. My little clowns don't go for flake straight from the container simply because of how huge the flakes themselves are.

I forgot to add, if you still have a hard time getting them to eat, try a few drops of a garlic additive (Kent's Garlic Extreme comes to mind).

I've never used it myself, but some people swear by it.

If it's edible the clowns will eventually learn to eat it. My clowns: I have yet to find anything they WON'T eat. :D
