I have a newly set up 28gal jbj nano. With about 70lbs live rock and 3 corols. Button polyps, ducanops, and candy cane coral. Clowns have been in tank since the 24th of december. The black spots are on the orange sections of the fish not in any certain are just random spots every were. I would say 6 to 8 spots on each. They are currently pretty small but worried they may get bigger. I have noticed their color darkening which i know is common depending on what feed and the lighting. But dont know if this is disease or weir coloration changing and should i expect them to be getting darker. They are active fish with a very healthy appetite and besides a few gently shakes, they show no other aggression please help. Any ideas or thoughts would be helpful. Thanks:sad1:

I had a set of clowns once that had them and everyone told me it was malnutrition and to feed them a little more than usual ....ended up going away in a week or so.

Posted in your other thread, too.

Could be Black Spot Disease. More common in tangs, easy to see on yellow tangs, but clowns can also get it. It comes from Paravortex member turbellarian flatworms and they basically lay dormant in the sandbed until they are mature then they swim up and attack fish. Their lifecycle is such that they live in the sand, attack a fish, then drop off and explode and turn into more of the same. They will actually move around on the fish, but it's very difficult to see them on anything but light colored fish (which is why it's also called Tang Disease because of how easy it is to see on yellow tangs). These will look like tiny black grains of sand on the fish and manifests itself much like ich with a similar lifestyle.
