I am getting to purchase a War Coral favia to add to my reef tank. I was wondering do I need to QT this or canI just dip? Do I even need to dip the coral? Can someone please give me some guidance on this. Thanks in advance.

Many use Bayer dip. I am sure it is fine. Do a search (google "bayer dip in reef central"

I dip in Bayer, then give a quick rinse in tank water to inspect it closely for any more resilient pests (eggs). It is also not a bad idea to remove the frag from the plug it came on and either place it in the tank or attach it to another (clean) plug while it is getting acclimated to your lighting.

I dip everything in Bayer. I use about 4ml per cup for 10 min, then a 10 min rinse, and another 10 min finish. It is not a bad idea to qt your coral to eliminate fish parasites from coming in as well.

WIth softies you have to worry about nudibranchs: their eggs can survive a dip. With stony you can just dip. With softies a little 'hold' after dip, magnifying lens inspection, and waiting for eggs to hatch.

I'm doing the same thing. I plan to dip in Bayer and qt in for eggs to hatch (if there are any). I long does it take for them to hatch? I was told 2 months?
