New coral dip/procedures

All,

My tank is getting to a point that I can not afford getting infected with any pest. Here is my current plan for new corals:

1. 12 hour treatment with Interceptor.
2. Turkey blaster and shake the coral.
3. TMPCC twice the recommended dose (until water is tea color).
4. Turkey blaster and shake the coral.
5. Flat Worm Exit.
6. Turkey blaster and shake the coral.
7. Place in display tank.

What do you think? What do you do?

during the 12 hr period, he uses a powerhead and heater...

what are some others' procedures?

mflamb: Like joe said. I use a 5g buckett with a small power head and a small heater. Would this be enogh?
rogergolf66 and magnoliarichj: Read that on a Calfo posting some where.
jjz_13: Thanks

All what do you do?

kind of overkill and stressing i think.
I'm more worried about passing on BAD things to EVERYTHING in my 390 than about stressing out some corals.
My way:
TMPCC normal dose dip.
FWE normal dose dip.
Put coral in 50 QT. When QT is full, or two weeks of coral hunting is over, whichever comes first, I treat with Interceptor. Two days later, I treat again. Whatever is still alive a month later goes into the display.

here is what i do,

i place the coral in a TMPCC bath for 20 minutes
then rinse it off with revive for the required time
then acclimate the coral to the tanks water in a 5 gallon bucket
once acclimated i place a small power head and heater in the bucket and nuke it with interseptor for 8-12 hours
then rince off with some tank water in a small container and place it into my new QT tank for a month.

Ditto. I thinkall that at once might be too much Pedro. I think you might really stress the coral. I guess you can give ti a try and see what happens though.

I have a 55 qt setup for fish and a 29 qt set up for corals. EVERYTHING goes into qt 4-8 weeks, corals/fish. If I see something wrong during that time I treat accordingly. IMHO treating for prevention puts unnecessary stress on fish or corals that may not be sick.
Just my $.02 :)

This is a pretty good topic. I just set up a 10 gal qt. Would love to know what everyone else does. The couple of people that posted sofar have been a big help. But I am also getting to the point I would hate to have anything bad in my tank.

I set up the QT because I found some flat worms in my tank. Luckily they were only on a couple of mushrooms. An I am treating the whole tank now. But would love to know how everyone else does theres so i do not put anything else bad in there. The flat worms werent quite "bad" but could have been if let go to long. Luckily when I see stuff I dont usually see I got this site and a couple of others to search to figure out what and if it is not good. I am still kinda new to this hobby but learning fast from all the posts on this site. Also most of my corals are LPS and softies. Anything I get from now on will get qted for at least 3 weeks. No matter what it is.

What is TMPCC?
I would consider it the best Iodine based coral dip available. There are others that many folks use, such as Lugol's. Most stores that sell corals sell some form of Iodine dip.

ok I use lugol's but I was wondering if their was something better out their. I have had some corals die after using lugols

I think the general consensus is that TMPCC kills more of the nasties than Lugols. Anyone else want to back me up, maybe some scientific data.
