Okay so i went by the jungle to day and he had just got a shipment in of corals and fish and was getting another one tonight. So if anybody was looking he has some stuff including a purple tang. Nice looking fish. Well i saw a coral that i thought was really cool an so i bought it. A flower pot coral. I am now wondering if anyone has ever had one of these and if so what can you tell me about placement, flow and other things. From what i have read it is going to take some work to get it to stay alive for more than 6 months. So any help would be great. Thanks

Gonipora or Alveopora? Very similiar, and very hard to keep. I've had 2 of them, and they both sort of strung along for a few months and then went downhill QUICKLY. The key is directly feeding them, like cyclops or something.

yeah i had planned on doing that. Any ideas on where to place it. I have 175 w MH i had it at the top in pretty high flow. but it did not look right so i moved it to the bottom and now it looks great just want to know what your experience was with them.

I had one for quiet a while and did good. I ended up trading it in on something else several months later. I did start to see a decrease in its health a little but, from what I have been told it is a short lived coral. I kepy mine on the sand bed with low to moderate flow and it did well there.

Feeding this coral is key to it's survival! But in the long run does not thrive only declines over time, and will most likely perish. I had a colony of Alveopora that did well for about a year then very quickly met it's demise! D.T. or Oyster eggs is a good choice for feeding but water quality is also important, so don't overfeed IMO I had it midway in the tank and med flow, with high flow it did not fully open. There very nice corals, Good Luck!

well i am going to try and keep it alive as long as i can. I hate that death seems inevitable. I have read that they are actually found in murky waters so i might try putting it in a place where it wont be in direct light. Right now i have it on the bottom of the tank moderate flow. Looked grear this morning with the lights off. Lights on the tentacles went back in. Still lokks good though.
