New custom Ocea Frag Tank

Very nice. Im going to get a new tank after the first of the year. Will be looking into having it built by them. Do you mind my asking how much it ran ya. If you dont want to post it you can pm me.

I sent you a pm. Ocea tanks are very nice and reasonable priced. All of the stands are cut by a computer and well made. They will stain it any color you want it. We research tanks before we ordered from them. Ty was so kind to let us visit his shop and we were impressed by their quality of work. They also have great customer service.

Well my thought was if you had a few drain holes you could use one with a standpipe up above the water line to run your cords through the center overflow.. Thats how I was going to do mine except I was going to just make a extra chamber in the oveflow that stayed dry for cords ect.. But a pvc pipe would work just as good.

I think I'll have two more 1/2 bulkheads added to opposite corners for the power heads. I can always make them just above the water line, cap them, drill a hole in the cap and seal with silicone. Then I won't have to worry about any leaks and once again, no cords. I talked to Ty and I can bring it back to Boaz and he'll drill them for me.

plugs are bigger than 1/2 you would have to cut and reconnect the plug. just food for thought. Love the tank, look forward to seeing it growing some frags.

We have already bought replacement plugs for our power heads. Ty said he would drill us some more holes. It will most likely be after Christmas before we get it up and running. Right now we are working on our new 70 gal.

If it were me I'd have probably a 1" hole drilled or atleast a 3/4 vs 2 smaller holes. Agreed that your plugs won't fit through the hole or in the standpipe. But even with a 1" bulk most plugs wont fit through. You also don't want to have to remove the plug from the Powerheads cord and pull the cable out anytime you need to service the pump. Easy cheap fix for this would be to cut the ends off your powercords but leave a few inches on the plug.. Then just add a lenght of wire between the PH and the Plug. On the end of the wire that connects to the powerhead cable use some small diameter quick disconects that will be small enough to fit into the standpiple so you can hide the connections.
THESE are called bullet connectors Home Depot, Lowes, Fasten all all carry them. They would give you the option of having the connection in the pipe if needed and would also save you from having to remove the plug from the cord if you needed to service the pump or even replace it. HTH

Why don't you power the powerheads from the ceiling with the lights? Then you wouldn't have to go through the tank with any wires.

Chad, the 70 gal has T5 lights. I will try to post a pic this weekend because it is up and running.

We are still mulling over the powerheads for the frag tank. We have time because we are not bringing that tank up until after the holidays.

Thanks everyone for the input!

Holidays are over :)

I think she's waiting to see what she gets for Valentine's Day!:D

Are he going to bring it to you? He is supposed to have mine ready too. Maybe he will bring it on the same trip.

I have not talked to him yet. Valentine's Day maybe another tank to replace the 29 gal?? Don has the demensions for a new tank already.

Another tank Yikes. Your better then me. Our tanks are broke up into 3 systems. I did this on purpose But everytime I break out test kits and have to run the same test 3 times.. I get very tempted to go to the shop and grab a few plumbing parts :mixed:

Testing is my job. Don and I do lab testing for a living so I don't mind doing it on our tanks. I quess it is a good thing that I like doing what I do for a living. I also am able to grab supplies from work.
