New DI water question.

I just added a DI to my RO and ran a little test water into my mixing tank and the initial result was a small amount that was off color, presumably from the resin. I should have run it into another container first. Would it still be possible to use the water in the mixing tank? There is about 35 gallons of water that will be used in my 175.

I am assuming you bought color changing resin. Rinse it a little first and it should be OK after that. I will not but color changing resin as it is a poor indicator of resin condition. A TDS meter is the best way to measure resin life.

I see you are a water/wastewater operator, my stepdad and uncle work in that industry and I used to work in an industrial waste treatment plant. It may sound silly, but I really find it facinating and every time I vistit them, I have them take me on a tour.

A reef tank is jsut a miniature wastewater treatment plant. They both depend on microbiological life to work. Its hard to get away from it, I've been doing it for 32 years now and been keeping saltwater fish for about 20 years.
