If/when you have 28 minutes to spare check out my new YouTube video from several Puerto Vallarta area dives last week (Sept 1-5 2015). If you take the time to watch it through I think you may be surprized at the colors and the amount of corals & fish it contains. NPS coral heaven!
Turn on your speakers, switch to HD full screen mode, kick back and enjoy. I hope you'll like it.

The video was shot with a GoPro Hero3+ using color filter and macro lens.

Great video. I guess I didn't know there were Morish Idols on the Pacific side of Mexico. Unbelievable the amount of Sun Coral!

What were dive conditions like? Looks like lots of current? Drift dives or moored dives? Water temps?

Just got back from Hawaii and exceptfor all the sea fans it looked remarkably similar.

thanks for sharing. Wow - your right... there is a ton of life in that video and all of it looks very healthy.

Thanks, yes there are lots of Moorish idols but you don't see them in large schools the way you do in Hawaii & Pacific islands. The conditions varied from site to site - worst case was about 40 feet visibility and best was well over 100 feet visibility. The water ranged from 83 - 86 degrees F. The area with all the sea fans (El Morro) was heavy current in many spots and features wall dives and pinnacles with clear water and lots of corals/sponges. Even when conditions are clear there is still a lot of plankton in the water but since 99% of the corals in that area are NPS filter feeders it stands to reason. Thanks for looking.

My Bad....I was not paying attention.....I have a thread on Fiji and thought you were commenting on that video when it popped up on my email, sorry for the confusion.

LOL...no worries. We are planning a trip to Fiji (probably Savusavu) next year and I was wondering if you were reading my mind! :D

Amazing video. May have to plan a dive trip there in the future. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. If you go I would recommend using Twin Dolphins as your dive shop and request to go to El Morro as one of the dive sites. (the best time for diving in Vallarta is between June - Nov. The water is warm and usually pretty good visibility most days)

Loved the vid greg, thanks for sharing!
Nice music too:)
Thanks Mike, glad you liked it.

Very nice, really liked the shot from behind the eagle ray.

Thanks, Yeah I was pretty happy with that eagle ray shot as I was able to get up close & personal with it - too bad the poor thing had lost it's tail somewhere though.
