New fish done for a while?

My LFS is having the hardest time getting ANY fish in stock. He goes down to Los Angeles twice a month - his last two trips have had basically nothing,.

Just looked at Live Aquaria - they have ONE reef-safe wrasse variety in stock (flame wrasse). Only a few tangs available (looks like mostly Hawaiian fish).

So are new fish basically done for a while? Anyone have an idea when fish shipments will start up again?

With international air traffic pretty much at a standstill it could be a while until shipments come in like before. Likely not this year. And by the time things normalize again many of the collectors and exporters may have gone out of business. Many of the local stores might not survive this either.

Most wholesalers are either shutdown or have very limited selection right now. Things won't return to normal until the "stay at home" orders are lifted (especially in California where most wholesalers are located).

I don't think that the stay at home orders have the most influence on this. International supply chains have been interrupted on all ends. One side opening up isn't enough to restart things.

Collectors are still shipping out because LFS I know who use transshippers are still getting fish in. The problem is California's restrictive "Shelter-In-Place Order" which limits the wholesaler's business activity. Pet shops and dry goods wholesalers are considered "essential" businesses but not livestock wholesalers.
