New Fish

We aren't positive about this one, but we think it is an Elegant Coris Wrasse, Coris venusta. If so, it is a little bit of a risky fish IMO. According to what I've been able to dig up on the net, the feeding habits of the Elegant Coris seems to include a lot of things that I've paid money for  so I'm going to keep a close eye on it...

The thing is, non of the pictures I can find of the Elegant Coris online have the yellow edged fins that my fish has. So maybe mine is a slightly different coris?

I think the fish has amazing colors. And this is just it's first couple of hours in my tank. They may get better as it becomes more comfortable in the tank.

I also saw a web site that showed some very significant color changes as the fish matures. (Marcye - got a link? I can't find that site now!!!) so it will be interesting to see the changes if they actually happen.

Here are some pictures from this evening.

This first picture is really wierd. The fish looks like it is floating in the air outside of the fish tank.

Coris Venusta female...for sure!

Coris Venusta female...for sure!

Here's a pretty good link about this wrasse by Bob Fenner. He seems to think favorably about it. Seems they're rarely imported so you have a pretty unique fish there. Here's the thread:

I think this species if pretty similiar to the yellow coris in habit and personality and if they're well fed should be a great additon. I bet the two look awesome together...Marcye
