New frag pack due next week

Hi everyone. I have a pack coming from Adam at Battlecorals next week. It's my favorite type of pack from Adam at that....nothing more than a grab bag. I have no idea what's coming as I leave that up to him.

It's a fun way to buy from him and what you get always FAR exceeds what you spend. It does anyway when you pick out your corals, but I swear it's even more so when you let Adam "drive the bus".

Anyways, I will post some shots when it's arrives. I will be home recuperating from a surgical procedure and what better way to pass the time then to unpack new corals [emoji856][emoji6]

I was just talking to Adam about doing one. His corals seem to be well worth the cost when doing the grab bags, particularly when you consider a lot of the chop shop inflated prices these days.

when you order from Adam do you specify that you want stuff grown under t5's or do you not care much? The follow up question being, do you see a drastic difference in what it turns into vs what's on his website?

I do not ask for anything like that. I find that there are minimum issues coming from led to t5, vs the other way around.

The second question varies. Some stuff will look entirely different and others stay exactly the same. We run a pretty similar style tank, due to me pestering him on his husbandry style and methodology, but even then some stuff looks different.

That said he is a huge proponent of leds and uses reef breeders fixtures almost exclusively. If/when I upgrade, I will be doing the same....

Yeah after talking to you about it I started kicking it around. I have just had bad luck with LED's only and as soon as I added t5's it was a night and day difference.

I plan on covering the entire top of the tank with photon v2. I think full coverage is critical with these type of board type fixtures. I was planning on getting 2 4' fixtures for a 48"x30" footprint.

The price difference mainly. I don't plan on getting all fancy with ramping or custom color fades. I think it's one of the inherent variables that get people in trouble with leds. Like my t5's - they will turn on and turn off, with maybe blues only for an hour on either end.

The photon is good enough for that for me.

With 2 at full power that's 440 watts. With the Halide, T5, LEDS fixture I have Im running about 640 watts. Just the power consumption would be 200 watts less

Yeah - life has been nuts the past few weeks. The corals came and look OUTSTANDING. Steve has seen them and I couldn't be more pleased.
