Hello RC. I'm very confused. I went to a reputable coral shop in my area and payed 40 dollars for some frags. When I got home I looked at the and there is hair algae like I've never seen under them. It's thick. What do I do??
You can dip the frag plug in hydrogen peroxide (keep it off the corals themselves, some can handle it but it will stun others). At a minimum use a razor blade to scrape off as much as possible.
As a precaution i scrape all my frag bases off with a knife even if there is no visible algae present. Then i take a Qtip with hydrogen peroxide and wet the whole plug being carful not to harm the coral. Rinse in saltwater then into the tank.
I do this to all my snails also for that matter.
If it's green, H2O2 will kill it.
