New Frogspawn not opening fully

I can tell you it isn't individual heads. It has three grown bodies which I'm guessing was one that grew out two more/others so it is basically a solid group. I bought the Aussie Frogspawn coral. I just checked and I didn't see anything referencing "stalk" for the one I bought.

The best advise I got from someone on here on where to place hammers, frogspawn, torch, etc(basically euphyllia), was so they just wiggle. I've been placing mine with this in mind, and all are doing great.

I would agree with the flow option. Mine are doing amazing and I don't have a crap ton of flow....but enough. They are the fat right and far left

Thanks for everyone's advice and help. I have adjusted the flow and location the best I can. I'm hoping tomorrow it will finally start to open really good. I'll let you know what happens.

Judging by the picture you posted your frogspawn is a branching but the stalks are rather thick compared to other frogspawns. Here is a link to the thick branched frogspawn live aquaria sells that i was talking about. Looks similar to yours

I don't think so. It most certainly appears to be a wall not branching.

Ya i now see the wall formation. Sorry for that. Not used to seeing wall frogspawns. Its not really a common coral where im at. If the wall frogspawn is anything like the wall hammer coral, as far as survival rate goes. I wish you luck. I hear its hit and miss on wall variations. I hope it starts opening up for you soon

I use to think the same thing about walls, I've not got a wall hammer and it's very nice and thriving.

High light on the sandbed is fine as long as it's not in high flow. The pictures shown look to me like it's in a high flow area.

Well, not much change in the past couple of days. I moved it to the front corner and placed a rock in front of it to help disperse the flow. I'm hoping that will make a difference. I don't know how long it can go without being fully open.

Jim, it should be a pretty quick change. I'd say within an hour or so you should see improvement. I've got a buddy that keeps them in his SPS frag tank and they all are short like yours is. Low nutrients and high flow make them look this way from what I've seen. His look that way all the time.

I'm at a loss. I have moved it to as low light and flow as I can. As far as nutrients go, I'm not sure if that is part of the equation or not. I do have a low nutrient system but my other corals seem to be fine. Other corals are GSP, Toadstool, 2 different types of branched montis, 4 different types of zoas, 2 different types of mushrooms, and a tube anemone. I do feed aminos on Wednesdays because I dose NoPox. I also feed phytoplankton and coral freenzie on Saturdays. I have cut my flow from a 60/40 intermittent ratio to a 40/30 ratio. Not much I can about the lights, it's a 4 foot tank with a 4 foot light. Any ideas are most welcomed!

It's been in the tank 8 days now and you can see there is just a little difference than a week ago.

Looks fine to me for only being in your tank for a week. I'd leave it where it is and let it acclimate. Once it does you can try and find a place where it's happiest. Just make sure it's a lower flow area.

I think it looks a little better. Hopefully it continues to improve. I had a similar issue with a FS like that a couple years ago but it started out great then decided to withdraw for a long time until it disappeared. It can be very frustrating.

It looks like it's peeling back from the base a bit, have you tried dipping it in case it's some kind of infection? Also I have a frogspawn the same species as yours in my frag tank that get blasted with more flow than some of my SPS, they don't open up huge but they open up more than yours.

imo your issue is lighting. I worked in importing for a long time and yours is indeed the one at the liveaquaria link, those are finickier than most Euphyllia and tend to come from deeper water which means they need to be acclimated to new lighting. They're also more likely to peel from the base when they get stressed which just gets worse if they're under too much light. You need to get it under lower light if you want it to get better, if it starts peeling more from the base then you're going to lose it if you can't get it in the shade.

As far as the wall formation I have a similar one that looked like a 4-5" wall frogspawn then blew up into 8 different heads one day, corals are weird sometimes

I dipped it in Coral Rx when I got it and nothing came off of it. I need to build a shadow for it somehow.
