mouth looks normal. anemone looks good keep it up.

Keep it up. Takes a while for giganteas to settle in. Slowly each week it will open up a little further, and its coloration will darken. Bright light, strong flow is the key.

Hey guys, I just got a gigantea today with a hosted clown and so far everything is great. The guy at the LFS assured me that most fish would be smart enough to stay away from it, but after researching alittle bit I've heard some horror stories about some other types of carpets eating fish. Is the same true of giganteas? and is there anything I can do to reduce the likelyhood of an accident?

I would return the Gigantea if all you have is a 46 bowfront with Power Compacts for lighting. What kind of flow are you running? Gigantea is imo the most difficult anemone to keep alive in captivity. Many that buy them have them die.

Well, I got him really cheap and he seems happy so far... It is that certain to fail? I have some SPS in my tank that is thriving and expanding despite their alleged "halide requirements". I was hoping to defy convention and try it (considering the minimal investment of $20 it cost me). Any other thoughts?

I feel much better now. That's not a Gigantea, thats a Haddoni. On that note, I would say your much better off starting with a Haddoni than Gigantea. I had a Haddoni of that same color until I decided to sell it. If you want more replies to your questions, start up a new thread and let the discussion of this one continue.

Are you sure that's a gigantea looks like a hadonii to me with the short blunt tentacles, i thought gigantea's had 1cm+ long tentacles

Well it seems the concensus is that this is infact a Stichodactyla haddoni. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm gonna start a new feed for more specific info.
