i must be a sucker for punishment.
visited my lfs today to see if any of the fish on my list came in with their shipment and walked out with what i knew was a challenging fish to keep but i had no idea that so many absolutely cannot keep them living... a twin spot goby :headwalls:
i've added bottled, live copepods a couple of times now over the past month as i started with dry aragonite and dry pukani and wanted some beneficial organisms. i'll definitely do my best to offer mysis for it but i worry that this little feller is going to ruin my clean record with fishkeeping.

It will do better as a pair than a single. With two you have a chance of them living just fine. Or bring it back.

This is why it's said to NOT make impulsive buys. I've done it and I bet most have, so you're not alone

There was a guy on here awhile back that had one in a 40 breeder and he squirted reef chili into the sand bed in front of his burrow everyday. That might help get him acclimated to prepared foods

i have a fish plan but also left room for a couple of add-on members. however, after seeing how many have failed this fish it's impossible to deny that you're probably right and should have been left at the store.
before conceding i'm exploring if it's feasible to develop a healthy, creature laden substrate for this fish along with an attempt to get this guy on mysis and am planning on continuing on with copepod supplementation.

tomorrow i'll head out to buy some along with some marine snow to boost the pods. at about 2" the twin spot has already fashioned a den for itself.

I believe that's Issac and the thread I think is in the New to the Hobby forum.

just wanted to update this:
i'm a week in with my twin spot and seemingly have had some success in feeding it.
after doing some sifting of my own on what these fish rely on i bought a feeding pipette and some reef roids.
i halved the recommended mix and dosed it just below the surface in specific areas that i noticed the fish attempting to feed in. it didn't take more that 30 seconds before the twin spot swam right over to the exact areas i fed and spend over an hour working the substrate in only those specific spots.
since using this method the fishes pinched stomach is no longer noticeable and it routinely feeds in the areas i dose immediately after the pipette leaves the gravel.
as a disclaimer i just want to make it clear that while i feel i've had a little success i am by no means calling this a win.
i'll update be it good or bad as in doing my research i found little info to support how to feed these fish reliably.

Did you read isaacs thread? I'm glad that is also working for you as well as him.
