New hammer with pics... Is it dead???

Guys,
How does this hammer look... I got a great deal on it at LFS... 30 bucks.... It was a tad more open then what you see in the pic... Does this piece have a chance?? I placed it in the lower region of my tank... Flow is low to medium down there.....
Lighting is a Nova Xtreme T5 8 bulb fix.

Nope, not dead. Needs to acclimate to its new home and give it time.

The green tentacles are still really short, do hammers take a long time??

Did u every c it all the way open? Mine have always opened fairly soon after being put in the tank. It looks like a pretty large, bright piece. I wouldnt give up on it.
