I need some help. I have been buying alot of LPS lately and would like to know if anyone has heard or use a dip to help rid of parisites before? Thanks!!!

I am not even aware of that many predators that pray on LPS...so I am interested.

You really don't need to dip corals. The only things I have found on LPS are various types of Polychaete worms and that's even rare. If you insist on a dip look into Kent Lugol's solution. Careful though, it is STRONG!

fwiw I dip all my corals and a lot of LPS in Betadine lately and evertything was fine. 3ml to 1 lt for 1/2 hour for LPS.

For SPS 6 hrs in intercetor/last 1/2 hour, betadine added.

I was not doing it for the LPS, It was in case there were acro red bugs or flatworms that would get the SPS.

Thanks for info. Has anyone used Lugols and freshwater?

Personally, I wouldn't dip LPS in freshwater. Many cannot 'close-up' to protect themselves from the effects of osmosis, like zoanthids for instance.

I typically do a quick dip in a solution of Flatworm Exit and saltwater.

Seachem "ReefDip", Kent "Tech-D", and Tropic Marin "Pro Coral Cure", are easy to use iodine preparations for dipping corals. I've never had a problem with dipping them and always dip my corals before putting them in the tank. You should see the amount of flatworms that jump off of them sometimes.... Also, I look at it as a preventative against brown jelly.

Can you give me the time frame for each dip step?

I use the Seachem Reef Dip as part of my acclimation process. Use a 5-gallon bucket with coral and shipping water. I then slowly add tank water till I get about 1 gallon of water. I then add 5-ml of the Reef Dip. This is all per the instructions on the bottle. Then I setup a slow drip from my display tank such that it takes 1-2 hours to fill the 5 gallon bucket. Place the coral in QT or in display. Dump the water down the toilet and add 5 gallons of new salt water to the display tank.

Whole process including setup is about 2 hours. I sit out by the pool for most of that time :)
