New to the game for the most part

as of now im running a seaclear system ii
no skimmer
40 lbs of live sand
25 lbs of rock maybe
levels are textbook and im housing one maroon clown

any advice would be dope!!!

Do you have any particular issue you want to know more about?
There is a good thread on skimmerless systems if you are considering staying without one. 25 lbs of rock might be good for a system up to 35 gallons. If your tank is larger you might need more rock.

My advice is maroon clowns can get pretty angry. They can be fairly aggressive. But if everything is good with the water parameter wise then keep it up and do some research to see where you want to go with it

hey guys I appreciate the eagerness to help me out!!!! so heres a more accurate recap
55 GALLON SEACLEAR SYSTEM II ACRYLIC TANK WITH THE FILTER BUILT IN BACK FOR BIO MEDIA FILTRATION POWERHEAD ETC which leaves me with bout 30gallons to play with
40 LBS LIVE SAND
13lbs DEAD ROCK
1 powerhead FOR CIRCULATION

I ALSO SEEDED BACTERIA IN THE BIO BALLS IN THE BACK ASWELL!!! I STARTED OUT WITH A MAROON CLOWN BECAUSE I LET MY IDIOT LFS GUY CONVINCE ME TO DO A CYCLE WITH A FISH SMH SO THAT BEING SAID I WAS DOING EVERYTHING I VOULD TO CATER TO THE LIL DUDE I BOUGHT FLUVAL CONCENTRATED BACTERIA START UP WITH THE OPTION TO ADD FISH IMM. WHICH I HAD TO SAY DIDNT AFFECT THE LEVELS AT ALL AT FIRST.....MY GF FORGOT TO LEAVE THE AC ON IN THE HOUSE AND TEMP SKY ROCKETED N MY CLOWN DIED SMH

SO I HAVE NOW HAD A FISHLESS CYCLING TANK. I HEARD THAT ELEVATED TEMPS HELP THE BACTERIA GROW FASTER SO I LET THE TANK LINGER ROUND 84-88 degrees IS THT A BAD MOVE???

THE TANK HAS BEEN CYCLING FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS AND MY AMMONIA IS AT 0 MY NITRITES AT 0 MY NITRATES A LITTLE OVER 0 my salinity is bout 33 and my gravity is about 1.026

THIS IS ALL AFTER AMMONIA AND NITRATE SPIKES (I THINK I MISSED THE NITRITE SPIKE)

DOES THIS MEAN MY TANK IS CYCLED OR DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH MY FISH NOT BEING IN THE TANK TO PRODUCE AMMONIA? BUT SINCE THERE WAS AN AMMONIA SPIKE FROM THE JUMP WOULDNT THAT MEAN MY TANK HAS BEEN CYCLED???

ANYWHHO ANY ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED THANKZ!!!!

yea I only have maybe 15 pounnds of rock but if u take a look at my last post I think my tank is cycled should I just add dead rock to prevent an ammonia spike?

Just a thought, but if "forgetting to leave the air conditioner on" is going to be an issue, you need to rethink your system. No fish are going to survive with major temp swings.
Slow down, back up and do some reading and planning before proceeding.

actually its never a problem until the one time I let the gurl in my house lol I understand what your sayin n you are cometely right butbi cant afford a chiller and I have never lost a fish til tht incident I am pretty much on top of everything but I will look into investing into the chiller thsnk u bro

Best help for you is a file called SETTING UP which is up in the stickies. Read that and then read the good parts twice.

Put a massive tacky sign on the door saying 'AC!!!!!! on!!!!!' and if the gf doesn't notice that before leaving, get a new gf.

Spouse/GF/BF are one of the tricky parts of the hobby, you MUST keep their interest at just the right level, to low and you have to beg for equipment, to high and you have to spend money on their tank instead of yours ....
