Yeah, my 3's make but a subtle hum that is inaudible lest you put your ear near the tank. The 1's are dead silent.

I called their number just as a stab in the dark to see if they were open and they were. 
I spoke with Brandy about them. She asked one of the fish techs and he'd also heard that some of them have had balance issues with the propeller causing them to rattle. They're going to check to see if the new shipment is in and then send me a pair and a prepaid shipping label for me to send the defective ones back.
The Drs. may have raised their prices a tad, but with service like this, I'd say it's worth it.

I just got my #4 in today (1 hour ago). I pushes some water but I would need at least 1 if not 2 more in my 75 gal. And I have the main return (400 gph) and 2 MJ1200.
I think the K4 are great but you will need 2 if not 3 in a 75

When i got my 4's in last week i had one that was almost dead silent and the other rattled badly. after talking to a guy on this site i took the impellar out and sure enough something was wrong. If you take the impellar out there is a little black ring down the shaft that comes loose and gets crooked. i put it back on correctly and pushed it down as hard as i could(without breaking it)and WALLA it was silent. hope this helps.

I have a DSB and it is 30X (1 K4, return pump and (2) MJ1200) without sand in my tank. I need at least 1 more.

I modded my 4 by using a maxi-jet 1200 magnet with an Octura 1440 prop (had to trim a little off to make it start reliably). I also glued on a 1-1/2" secion of pvc onto the front to get a better flow distribution (it had a couple of jets at angles instead of being straight out). Kick butt flow, and I like the mounting and aiming much better than the maxi-stream mod - and most important dead quiet.

Dude the k4's are doing 1200 gph for sure, I have a vortech that is supposed to put out 3000 gph and the k4 is on par almost.
This is in a 90g and I had to unplug the k4 cause it was blowing the sand around and making my corals and my bta close up while in undirect flow.
It's insane to think mburnickas needs 3 k4's along with 2 mj 1200's in a 75g, I would imagine his fish are getting flat blasted against the glass or he's keeping hard corals. I'd love to know...

My dsb is established, but it's oolitic aragonite sand and it's some what fine. I mounted the k4 in the upper rear corners about 4" from the surface to keep from sucking in air and pointed'm ever so slightly down and center. My hammers tightened up and sand was being thrown at it even though it was in the lower corner, nothing like a sand storm, but enough to let me know it was too much.
Also, my fish were hiding and couldn't swim directly in the stream even though it's wide, they were being blasted as well. This is all in a 90g, that's why I can't see so much flow in a 75.
Flow is definitely needed, but when your fish don't swim in the open and the corals recede it's too much...IMO

I am. I only have one and the thinhs is quiet and speads some water. It is had to get used to how it pushes the water due to me using the MJ1200 (narow spream) for some long. On a times and shuts down at 10PM and back on at 6.

I love mine! Very random flow! I had 2 6060 Tunzes and they produced a lot more flow (too Much) but not as random as these. Has anyone tried using the Seio controller on these? mburnickas I like the idea of setting a timmer to cut off a couple of them at night have you had anytrouble restarting them?
I just got mine and have 2 koralia 3's on a seio controller. Very happy with them. One of them has been a little finicky coming back on from a cold start, so I'm glad I have the controller to cycle them up and down. From a cold start they are noisy when they first spin up, so for wave making, I would definitely recommend the seio hydor combination.
They're pretty quiet too, but I can hear the difference as they switch from low to high on the seio. pretty much a typical hum.
They do a much better job at keeping stuff "in suspension" in my tank than my old powerheads. My hair algae and cyano issues have significantly lessened in under than a week!

The Seio controller will work well with these because it merely lowers / increases the electrical pulse. I read somewhere that the manufacturer does not recommend cutting off the power and re-starting them on a daily basis as it may damage the unit on the long run.
