New Hydor pump

Just keep an eye on the Seio controller. I don't think it is rated to handle the higher wattage of the larger pumps.

The K4 is 12W, the Seio controller can handle larger Seio pumps from 21W to 55W, but I still don't know why the manufacture insists it can not be used on the smaller Seio pumps.

4 months with the Seio controller and so far so good............let's hope it stays that way!!!

Funny, because when I asked the Rio rep, he told me it would not handle the larger pumps. I don't use one, so I don't have the specs. good to know it works for those using them.

What pumps do you use with the controller?

Because they KNOW that their smaller SEIO's might just stop altogether and not start back up once ramped down.

Is it because the controller can't handle the smaller pumps in general or just because the smaller Seio pumps happen to be not suitable?

I have a single Koralia 4 and I am planning on getting a 2nd for my 120 gallon. If I'm going to have 2, I'd say that a wavemaker is needed, of course it is..

Do I remember correctly about hearing of a controller that brings the output to the powerheads down to 30%, rather than the standard 50% that the Seio's do? is that a new model out yet?

anyway, my single Koralia 4 has been terrific for about 3 months, and i want to put it on a wavemaker with the addition of a 2nd.

Suggestions?

thanks,
-G.

why would you want to put the Koralia on a wave maker? The flow is so gentle that I would think you would want the flow going all the time. I have found that the more flow the better.

here's my setup:

dual pumps in my sump, each with a SQWD on them, i forget the pumps but i know that combined, with the 5' vertical climb into the tank, i have the both totaling about 1600 gal per hour. so I have four nozzels, essentially, with two pairs alternating current returning into the tank.

in addition, I have a single Koralia now, and i'm looking into a 2nd. I wanted to alternate them.

No?

I like alternating current.

OK, just remember the Koralia can't be used with a wave maker that turns it off and on all the time. They rattle a lot durning startup. If you find a wave maker with soft start, that might work.

Seio controller is the only one that will work until Hydor comes out with their own, supposedly by the end of the year

My brand new Koralia 3 from Premium Aquatics came with two pieces that snap on the front of the pump. One is cylindrical and the other is a mesh to fit into the cylinder. It also came with a little yellow addendum to the instructions to show how to install it. But there was no text with it.

It looks like what it does is direct the stream of the pump to a tighter stream, rather than the diffuse stream that you normally get with the Koralia.

Is this a new piece? My Koralia 4 doesn't have it in the box.

I'm probably not going to use it because I like the wide stream, but it is nice to have the option.

It snaps on the outside of the housing. I can take a picture tonight. At first I didn't find the extra instruction sheet, so I was a bit confused about its purpose.

I just got a Koralia #1 and was wondering the same thing. At first I had it on, but was not sure if it was restricting the flow. I have it off for now, but I may but it back on when I start to add fish and corals.

I looks like a guard to protect objects from the blades.
