New hydrofoamer 9400 problem.

Hi, just got this in yesterday, it will start but you can tell it is barely spinning and it gets very hot. Everything seems to be there I compared it to the other 1 on my Doc skimmer. Have there been any problems with these?

If you take the impeller out, does the needlewheel spin free of the magnet for a moment before catching? It should but some of them had been put together too tightly. If the needlewheel is not "free" of the magnet you might have to pop it out a bit. The yellow bushing is pressure fitted on and holds it all in place.

Yep it was very tight, wouldn't spin at all. It does start now.

I have another couple questions;

Can you keep turning the pump until it stays solidly attached to the skimmer body or will this break the skimmer? They tend to fall over so I was curious if the seals on the skimmer would spin?

And last question, only one of the nipples is small enough for the air line tubing, how do you solve that?

Thanks

Rob

It should have 2 larger nipples that airline fits over tightly, the small one is for adding ozone.

Use teflon tape to solve this.

Great thanks, what about spinning the hydrofoamers until they stay put will the fittings in the skimmer turn or not?

Really should have a jam nut on these instead of teflon tape but I guess that would work.

Now I have another problem, after comparing the 2 pumps and reinstalling the original and new one the original pumps rubber cap is stuck in the motor housing and looks deformed, I can't remove it and this one will no longer start. I'll be sending it in for repairs, hope I have your address around here somewhere?

Rob, that may not be necessary, can you just confirm that the pump works with your other drive unit, then you could PM Rodney (wartskin) and he could send a new drive unit. You should be able to remove the rubber bushing with a pick or long needle nose pliers. You need part 9400.047

I have tried to get the bushing out with no luck. I will give it another shot today or Tuesday, there is no material to grab but compressed air might work, I'll give it a shot.
