Hello to all COMAS members!

With the new year, COMAS will be implementing a new addition to the frag donor program. :D We have setup a frag tank for quarentining the incoming corals. :D How this will work is not much different than how the program has been handled in the past. The only difference will be that incoming corals will be collected at each meeting and then go into the COMAS frag tank for one month for quarentine. The following month the frags from the previous meeting will be passed out.

Explanation of what the frag tank will be for:
It allows the corals to be quarentined and inspected, for one month, to help decrease the transmission of pests. The quarentine process will also include dipping in TMPCC and Revive Coral Cleaner, as well as any other dipping procedures that need performed during the quarentine period.

Disclaimer:
This is not a means to an end, so we all still need to continue to dip and quarentine after we recieve a coral.

See everyone at the Meeting this weekend!!:D

This is cool!!

I have not yet heard of any other group that does anything like this. Heck, I don't know of too many people or stores that do this like they should.

I for one am very happy to see this happening.

Also, Glenn, Look for a PM from me. I have a lot of frags that need to get to you.

The other side of this is that Glenn will be able to post, each month, the frags that will be coing back to the meeting ready to be handed out.

It allows us a measure of quality control. In the past we have seen frags being returned tht had zero chance of survival due to being either too small or badly mounted etc.

This approach adds a whole new level to the frag program.

Personally, I am very happy to see the growth of this program.

Also, over the next few months we will begin writing to people who have frags from the program yet have not returned frags from those they received. If you have ahd a coral for more than 6 months, expect to see a reminder real soon.

Paul.

Kind of seems like COMAS keeps redefining what a reef club is or should be. Great group of people.

BTW, we're ready for the frags to start rolling in at the meeting this weekend.

Finally some pics of the frag tank, and a few teasers for the next meeting.

I will be posting a list before the next meeting of frags to be passed out and a list of who is in line for those frags.
Huh, my color on the pics is a little off. Have to fix that.

FOR whats it worth i think its really cool that COMAS does this for its members.. it coudent be done with out ALOT of time an effort from the keepers an donors of the club, also the people who all got it started.. thats an awsum frag tank.. im happy to see COMAS to come so far since i joined, even tho im not a paid member im still proud to be assocaited with a club like this..if it wasent for members of this club i think i would have gotten out a long time ago.. thanks COMAS..for all you do for the hobby...

Do we need to let you know in advance if we are bringing frags to the meeting?

Where can we get help or tips on fragging corals?

manitou74,

I will always bring a cooler to the meeting. So we're ready for them everytime someone wants to bring frags to a meeting.
