got a juvenile today, only about 1.5 inches long

all of them in the lfs' tank were swimming like crazy, they were at the lfs for 3 weeks so far (so i was told)

now in the QT, he's just hiding and sitting on the bottom.

is this normal behavior for a blue tang that is new to a tank????????

He is probably stressed. He may also get ick from the stress. From my experience (I've had 2 casualties) if it gets ick, just leave it alone, do not remove and treat (as it will be even more stressed). Blue hippo often plays dead (lying side ways) so do not be concerned.

i just picked one up as well they are very shy at first try to watch the tank from a distant i see mine pop out and swim around when nobody is looking. give it time it will come out.

I hate it when fish lay on their sides too, you get all ready to flush em, stick your arm in the tank to get it out and whoosh off it goes into the rocks. now your arm is all drippy for nothing.
