Skimmer envy... bet that collection cup smells yummy! Man. that thing would suck the coralline straight off my LR in my little tank..

looks like a ocean runner, no idea what model.
They better not turn off the skimmer, looks like the airline is way below the water line of the skimmer. Water will start shooting out the airline if its turned off i would think.

Yep definately an OR and like said before, that would be funny to be there when they shut that guy down! Water everywhere with that much backpressure!

well it looks like they have to shut it down to take the cup off right? So whats there shutdown procedure? Cut off the air with a valve then turn pumps off? Hopefully they have someone there 24/7 for small power outages and or if the pump would get something in it or just freeze up. Thats a flood waiting to happen IMO. If airline run all the way to the top causes to much restriction, run bigger airline ;)

On a positive note, its good to see a nice tall skimmer milky white. :D

Here's one big skimmer. It covers roughly 2/3 of the surface of the planet and you can happily swim in its skimmate.

After all, isn't a reefer's ultimate goal to essentially put an entire ocean into their living room?

Heh.

I'm not sure what the ultimate goal is... someday I'll start a thread asking why people are acually in this hobby.

I mean, why do we/you want the ocean in your living room?

:) For me, I think it's more of a tinkering thing than a posession thing if that's what you're getting at.

Sure, that's a big part of it for me as well. I wonder if most people here appreciate the biology and diversity etc. of what we're putting into these tanks. For me that is one of the biggest draws. I enjoy watching bristleworms..... ugh.
