New Life Spectrum coral pellet foods

Well I don't know if its a coincidence or what, but Fauna Marin is not the only company that has a coral pellet food now. New Life Spectrum is now producing both micro and macro reef pellet food. The macro is for target feeding LPS and what I'm REALLY looking forward to is the micro feeder. It is for broadcast feeding and may be quite suitable for our gorgonians. NLS is known for high quality and good pricing. Do a search online for purchasing info as it doesn't seem like any of the sponsors here sell it yet. Whoever gets it first please post your review!

tip:

even the NL/S large pellets will break up and feed corals.

Now the important question:
is the recipe the exact same for all?

Gary... Jake Adams posted a picture in the comments section of the RB post on the new NLS feeds. I'd mention the site by name but it would get censored ;)

Would you mind shooting it to me in a PM ?
I am happy with the FM LPS but am willing to look at other options to go with your products .[my staple coral diet]:lol2:

email me. Sending it via PM would be a work around for the censor and they censored it for a reason :)

You could google: Reef Micro-Feeder and Macro Feeder from New Life Spectrum
and look a few links down though :0

Wow, you guys are really on some other stuff in this forum ;)
Ok too many posts from me today, time for bed!

Just ordered reef micro (100-300 microns) and macro (2 mm) feeders from Aquacave. $12.95 per bottle is pretty affordable! I will update you guys with better information on these products once I receive them, including nutrient profiles.

Ok, got the food today and tried it right away.

Initial impressions:

- High quality pellets/powder. Very dense.

- The macro and micro foods are exactly the same. The only difference is the size. The macro food is significantly larger than Fauna Marin LPS pellets (the small size).

- The main ingredients are (in order of decreasing concentration): Whole Antarctic Krill Meal, Whole Herring Meal, Whole Wheat Flour, Algae Meal, Beta Carotene, Spirulina, Fish Oil, Alfalfa, Garlic, Vegetable and Fruit Extract*

* Yeah, sounds strange, but if you think about it, a lot of people also feed garlic extract, garlic oil, etc.

- The guaranteed analysis is:
50% protein, 12% fat
(Compare to FM Ultra Min F: 55% protein, 14% fat. FM Ultra LPS: 75% protein, 8% fat, 12% carbs)

- The macro feed pellets are large, heavy and are best suited for large LPS like Rhizos, larger Dendros and extra large Tubastrea. These corals seem to respond well to the food. For smaller LPS, they must be soaked for a while to soften up. FM Ultra LPS is softer.

- The micro feed reminds me of FM Ultra Min F. My Crinoid feather star went crazy for this stuff. Feeding arms were fully extended. Gorgs show feeding response too.

That's all I've got for now!

No, at least not for the small fish formula I have. This stuff doesn't have any soybean isolate, amino acids or ethoxyquin. It has more ingredients than the fish formula.

No, the fish food has those ingredients, the coral food does not. The coral food does, however, have more ingredients overall than the fish food. It also has more protein and fat.
