Having a little problem. This 'over thinking this" thing has got me just little bit lost. Cleaned out my sump: Rocks sitting in sw, sand in tubs, and removed the 2 partitions. The sand is from the beach, probably getting rid of that. I have a skimmer and return pump, and enough small, and tiny dry rock to fill it, 30gal. Got myself convinced that I need a sock, filter pad and filter media of some kind, and a GFO, Carbon reactor. Starting to think I dont need all that. Those reactors arent cheap. Then theres the DIY Algae scrubber, the kind with the long air stone and the red lights, Cheato, between 2 partitions, and/or a refugium. Having washed everything with a yard hose, my phosphates are probably going to be high, and so on, and so on.
Im stuck with where to put the partitions, and of course how many, and why.
I want a simple reef tank, couple clowns, a Bubble tip anemone (someday), a few pajama (fish), and a clean crew later as needed. If possible enough stuff to feed the fish by grazing, with small feedings by me, of course.
Side thought, wonder if I could add the BFR and carbon sections to my skimmer, one pump feeds the whole thing?
