New light settings new brown heavy dusting

So for over a year i fought with trying to get my zoa's to grow or even not die. My water was clear and tested great.

Then i rented a par meter to find even though my lights seem very bright to me they registered 80 on surface and 10 on SB.

So I adjusted settings to 400 top 80 SB and zao's started to pop and grow. Soon after the brown dusting began and if i dont get it every day it gets bad.

Water temp is around 85F. Is it too much light or too hot of temp causing the brown dusting growth. Or other.

Thanks

85 is high leaving little room for safely. Most reefers run around 80 more or less.
You mentioned PAR but you didn't say how long your running the lighting, that also makes a difference as the issue is photosynthetic , my advice is lower the lighting time & see if it goes away on its own and lower the temp to 80. This way your not adding anything or messing with the tanks parameters just finding that sweet spot of just the right temp & lighting stability.

I targeted 82 F in the past, and that seemed fine, but I wouldn't want the temperature going much higher. Fans can provide a lot of cooling, although the evaporation rate can be quite high.

Wow, did you go from 80 to 400 par?
400 is in the SPS range.
I would consider reducing light to 100, and moving up slowly.
85 IMO is just to hot!
