I'm looking for some black nylon rope for the system, and I think I'm going to add one more pully on the wall at the top to aid in raising the lights.

rights now I have from front to back aquablue, aquablue, 75-25, midday, actinac white, midday, pure actinac, and actinac. But I think I'm going to change the 75-25 to a aquasun. anyway, that is where I am right now.

Very cool, Norman! That looks great!

How are you liking them overall so far?

Also, I've heard it can take a week or two for the T5s to kind of "settle in". I know my bulbs have changed in the time I've had them in, especially the $9.99 actinic I bought (which is actually turning out to be pretty good!).

I'm thinking of doing a small pulley system on my current system, but it would be inside the hood and probably wouldn't raise more than 4" or so... to be honest, I don't think it would be worth it inside the hood... but its an idea. :D

Yea, I'm really liking them, they have been on the tank for almost a week now and the more I look at them, the better I like them.

and yea, a pully system inside a hood would be doable, but difficult to fine tune. If you need any help with it, let me know.

Norman, It looks great! The wood around the top looks very nice since you painted it. I will look around, I may be able to get my hands on some black cord. If so Ill let you know. Tanks looks awsome!!!!! Ricky
 
Looks great, Norman!

You should think about getting some fans blowing in there. T5s need to be cooled to get the full life and PAR out of the bulbs. It may get mighty hot in there without fans blowing across the water and bulbs.
 
thanks guys, and ricky, thank you for trying to find some black rope, let me know what you find out. and Jack I am working on putting 2 fans in the hood, just have to get it done, now that wayne showed me how to do it without cutting a 3 1/2 in hole in a 3 3/4 board :) was going to just drill a round hole for the fans, but now am going to do a retangle hole. thanks wayne.

I ended up goin' with the Nova Sundial 4x54w T5HO light. I really like the look of the stock bulbs. Has the blue color I like. It's actually brighter than the pic shows, but you get the idea...

Good looking Tank, I think the lights look great, really fills out the tank nicely and your right, pictures just don't show the brightness.

Steve and Norman -- if your corals are not used to T5s, you might want to acclimate them by putting some layers of window screen over the tank and peeling off a layer every few days. Just something to keep in mind.
 
Would Norman still need to coming from 250w MH? Possibly because its a different type of light?

I would. Just like folks acclimate when you change halide bulbs, the corals need a chance to get adjusted to the new light -- brightness and spectrum.
 
Yes, thanks Jack, in fact I noticed my gsp was closed up completly, so I did just that, and hopefully it will get used to it :)......thanks for heads up. & the fans are now installed.

My corals have never looked better. My GSPs are actually lookin' much fuller now. I don't know? I have had this light on for almost a week now and everything looks 10 times better.
