New lights

Hello everyone. I just purchased a new light fixture and I have a question regarding aclimating the tank to the new lights. My old fixture is a 4 bulb set up and my new lights are a 6 bulb. Should I just run the lights for a shorter time and work my way up or just run like 2 bulbs then slowly add more bulbs? Will this hurt the fixture by not running all the bulbs.

You can run all six bulbs, just raise the lights and lowering it a bit each day. Others have even used layers of screens and removing one layer at a time after a couple of days.

I think I am going to have to go the screen route because I don't have the option to hang the lights. They are going to be mounted on top of the rim of the tank. Should I start with like four layers of screen and remove a layer every three or four days?
