I got 2 ice cap 250 watt e-ballasts, to go with two of my LA mini's and I cant wait to hook them up..... but I am retarded and neither of them have plugs :(
Does anyone want to help me wire these? Or suggest the best way to make these things work.
:)

I have plenty of cords from computer monitors of you need a cord. The Ballasts should have a wiring diagram on them. Black, white, green goes to the plug in the wall. Then you should have two wires (blue and a yellow) for the mogul socket.

I'll have to look at it again, I know there is a black, white, Green/yellow, and 3 light blue. Are there any better ways to wire, such as on/off switches, detachable plugs from ballast to wall, and ballast to light?

They sell enclosures (heatsinks) for those ballasts that have what you are talking about. and there are just two blue wires on the ballast and they hook up to the black and white off of the mogul socket (doesnt matter which wire you hook up to which)and the black white and green/yellow tracer hook up to your wall recepticle.

Dan Over at Pacific Garden supply Helped me get these wired up and ready! Thanks for everyone's help.

Now I just need to build a canopy for my tank.......Does this ever end? :)
This is going to be my design I think. After talking to Dan at PGS he suggested my canopy look something like this, in order for the heat to dissipate outside the canopy rather than trapped right above the water. Any opinions?

yeap thats the best way to do it, that way if you add t5 later you can install it inside the canopy close to the water
That makes so much sense! If the reflectors are inside there would be no room for a t5 fixture.
All I need now is someone to build the canopy :)
