I posted this on the aggressive fish forums as well but i thought it should be here to. My lion fish that i got just today died within 7 hours. It was in the corner of the tank doing fine. After about 3-4 hours it was floating around upside down and all over barley moveing his fins. When he would float to the bottom he would hit it and then swim right side up and wedge himself between the heater chord. He did this a cpl times, finding different places to hide. I cheaked on him an hour ago and he was wedged in the chord dead. His skin flap that covers his gills was wide open, even inflated maybe i was able to see all the red inside,it was very visible. What could have been the cause? There was no trace of anything in the tank temp was 78, and sg was at 1.023.

Sounds like you placed this fish in an uncycled QT. I'd be curious as to the water parameters of the quarantine tank, specifically ammonia, nitrites and pH. A QT must cycle just like any tank.
