New lynckia stars...why do they move to the top?

I just purchased over the last week 2 stars, one orange and one blue.

I made sure that over several hours I dripped the blue one to match the salinity levels to be within .001-002.

Salinity is 1.026.

Why do stars move to the top of the tank?

I want to make sure they don't croak....

What else do stars care about?

Linckia are a mystery even to researchers, by what I hear. Nobody knows for sure what they eat, but its suspected they eat a slimy film on very old rock, and that seems to be it. My lfs has a few in its frag sale tanks, and they seem to thrive, so they're getting something. Possible that what they eat is associated with a particular kind of coral, leather or sps (which is what is in that tank) because there's precious little rock, and they spend a lot of time in the sand near the corals. Maybe they eat coral slough.
