New mag. Should I cipro?

I purchased from LFS. It look great at the store. He was fully inflated but was only partially attached to the bottom glass. The clerk was able to get him off without tearing at all.

I placed him directly to the DT since all seemed healthy. For 2 days he has been inflating and deflating several times a day. He won't attached his foot securely to the rocks though. Mouth is tightly closed and when I fed frozen to the tank he caught some and reacted although did not eat the food. His feet is often very inflated looking like an elephants foot.

All parameters are perfect.

I am contemplating if I should let him try to recover and settle in in the DT or put in QT.

I do have cipro. I have kept a mag for years before I took a break from the hobby. Back then treatment was not used yet so this is new to me. I have read the sticky but not sure what to do in my case.

Foot inflated mean that he is about to walk. Keep a close eye on him. He is about to go for a walk.

Btw lights are vertex illuminata at 50% during the day. Tank is a 45 cube 18" tall.

I know some don't treat unless it does the inflate and deflate process,but when I got my mag it looked great,I treated it with cipro for seven days just as a precaution.It never deflated while in qt.

I let him float to where he wanted and i assume he will climb to the pedestal I made for him at some point. He looks like he attached to a rock although it does not seem very secure. I can probably pull himoff easily.

Anyway I am closely monitoring before cipro. I have increased my light to 65% and the 2 MP10's to 50% also. I will sleep better bow that I placed a fiberglass mesh around the pumps.

At 6pm today he detached from the rock and was inflating and deflating. After our superbowl party I moved him to HT and dosed 250mg of cipro in 10 gallon tank.

Mouth is still tightly closed but he continues to inflate and deflate while his foot gets really puffed up.

Update at 5 PM Day 3 in HT.
Looks inflated with mouth tightly closed.
First time I saw him attach the entire base of his feet.
Cipro and 100% water changes are done at 10PM every night. Water is pulled from the DT.

HT tank details
10 Gallon tank with glass hood
Bare bottom
50Watt Aqueon Pro heater in 1" PVC with slits on the sides.
Maxijet 600 with sponge on Intake
Airpump with bubbles going up the 1"PVC to circulate water past the heater.
150 watt hqi Halide 12k
8" square plastic container hanging 1" below water surface. The anemone is inside.

I placed the anemone in a plastic container so I can easily relocate him to DT when he is ready.

Great! Mags tend to respond to cirpo treatment better than gigs in my limited experience.

Just an update...

2/4 5pm I saw a bunch of black stuff on the sponge of the powerhead so he must have released some of his zoos. Fully and tightly attached though onto the plastic container. Seems to have lost some of his color. Not sticky at all.

2/5 5pm securely attached and sponge was clean. Seemed normally inflated and mouth is very tight. Still not sticky

Unfortunately the HT is in my unfinished cold basement and I am unable to monitor whether or not he is still inflating/deflating throughout the day.

Still doing 100% water changes at 10pm every night with full dose of 250mg of cipro in 10 gallons. I will continue the cipro for 4 more days at leaset and keep him in the HT until he is sticky again.

2/6 10pm - looks like stickiness came back. Feet firmly attached to plastic container and mouth is tightly closed. Within the last 24 hours he released more zoos.

2 more days of cipro i think.

Hopefully its not a disaster of a mistake but i went out today for about 6 hours and forgot to turn the power back on the hospital tank. Came home to a 65 degree tank with no water flow or air pump on. Anemone tenticles were short and deflated. Slime coming off his base.

I turned on everything and added a 150 watt heater to the already 50watt in there. In 3 hours the temp got back to 76. Anemone already looks better.

Should I now extend the treatment an additional few days?

sounds like he pancaked... not a good sign. but too soon to tell if disastrous...i would watch him closely... 65 is pretty cool... i keep my mags at 81-82 consistently... the stress could reinfect him... Mags like warmer water..

I would keep him treated for another couple of days (3 more) and see how he is doing... if no deflation then i would get him into my display and pray he holds on...

Update- nightly 100% water changes and 250mg of cipro.

Tonight he was sticky and reacts well to the touch and food. I will attempt to move him this weekend. I will medicate until the Friday night.

Hey All,

He has been doing very well the last couple of days. Very reactive to the touch and is very sticky. I decided to put him into the DT this morning.

he stayed in place with moonlight but as soon as the light intensity went up he started to move. Seems like he is trying to get into the shade. He was under a 150DE halide in the hospital tank and he seemed to climbed.

In the display tank I have lowered the intensity of the LEDs to acclimate. White is 0%, Blue and royal blue set to 10%. He has stayed in place so far. Not entirely sure how long and how fast to raise the intensity yet. Any ideas?

I assume a couple of days is not a big deal. There are SPS and zoos in the tank.
