New Mag - treat or still acclimating?

Picked this one up on Friday from LFS. They said they had it about 3 weeks and gone through a cipro treatment. Was looking good up until I came downstairs this morning before lights are on

It seems to perk up once I turn the lights on but not sure if I should just pull and treat. I have cipro and septra, guessing I'll have to use septra since it supposedly already had cipro treatment.

Any thoughts?

Carefully pulled it off the rock and into HT. Started septra (sulfa forte) this morning. Assuming the LFS isn't lying and that they used cipro I won't go that route.

That is an anemone in need of cipro, I would not waste time, and I would not take LFS word that they treated it properly.

This is classic bacterial infection deflation signs IMO

Thanks! I'm going to stick with septra for today then dose cipro tonight. See if I have enough RODI for a water change as well

Make sure you follow the cipro protocol exact, including the 100% WC's, that is a big deal.
It's possible your LFS may have dosed cipro, but did they dose at day or night, did they do the WC's needed, and did they follow protocol properly, that would be my question even if they were honest.
I don't think a lot of LFS are outright dishonest, just are they properly informed.

Many do not realize cipro becomes inert w/ daylight, you've got an LFS that most likely operates during mostly day hours, hard to say if they ended the day doing the treatment, and doing it properly

Thanks. I followed it and was successful for a haddoni and gig. Lost a haddoni a few months back so I'm 2/3. I do 100% water changes and follow it exactly. Just started with septra on this since LFS said they already treated with cipro but I'm betting your right and they didn't follow proper protocol. Was a Sebastian and long tentacle in the tank with it.

Day 1

After getting in the HT and dosing septra, I did another water change later that night and started cipro. Will continue with cipro and only add septra again if it worsens.

Day 3 (morning after)

Looks better than Day 2...To me Day 1 looked the best, seemed to look a little worse on Day 2, now looking a little better.

Some mags seems to have a protruding mouth I've noticed, is this normal or should I disregard until after treatment?

Your mag is beautiful!

The mouth on mine did the same thing during treatment and still continues to just isnt as severe or noticeable now.

Thanks! I already have a haddoni and gig, but stopped in a new LFS and saw this and couldn't pass up. No LFS around me carry anything but BTAs.

Good to know, was curious about that as it seems different from my haddoni and gig. I had to treat both of those as well (from Live Aquaria) and while they had their mouth gaping, didn't look like this.

End of Day 3 just after lights out.

Will continue with 250mg of cipro and 100% water changes

I dont blame you, I wouldnt have passed up that beauty either. It will be gorgeous once it colors up. I ordered mine through the lfs and it's the only one around so choices are limited.

My experience is limited as it's my first one so not really sure how normal it is. I just assumed it was because it hadnt fully expanded yet so the mouth was squished out. Thst is merely my guess though. Maybe someone else has a scientific reason.

Once its regained color I'd like to see what it looks like if you care to post a pic. Good luck though!

Thanks! Your mag looks great as well! How is it doing?

Thank you!

It's doing good, starting to take on a nice lavender color. It still moves around a lot trying to find its happy place. Otherwise really healthy now.

Day 4

Looking really good. I haven't seen it deflate since I began treatment. Will continue for 3 more days.
