New magnifica nem

I was at my lfs yesterday just looking around when I spotted this mag in their back tank. I don't have any more room in my main display, but it looked pretty decent, and was only 48 dollars so I just had to get it! It is purple based with purple tentacles and yellow tips. I figured I would figure out its placement in main display after the ten day qt period haha.

It is currently in qt without any meds. Here's what it looks like now.

Nice. Good luck.

Thanks! Doesn't look as easy as I thought it would be!

It hasn't deflated with the gaping mouth yet, but it spits out brown pellets and...its own tentacle?

Here is mine I got from another member. I'm glad he found his happy spot but unfortunately changed my coral scape plans

So why do these not do so well?

Your own magnifica is gorgeous! :)

Yeah, unfortunately, they are very prone to infection. That's wonderful that you managed to find an established one!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys!

After lights out, I did a 90% water change, and crushed another 250 mg tablet of Cipro. We shall see what happens in the morning.

Nothing good to report.

Oh man... :(

Will switch antibiotics since cipro doesn't seem like it's doing jack. Ugh.

I'd clean that tank bro. It's too dirty. They don't do well in a dirty tank like that.

Do 2x 100% water changes a day and redose if you have to. If you can keep it clean, stick with 1 a day. Just keep the tank clean. Take a bottle brush and clean the glass walls and bottom around the nem.

These pics were taken throughout the morning. Last night I treated with 1 packet of erythromycin following water change. Tank was cleaned too! Lol. Erythromycin worked well for me on a sick mag a few years back so i figured i would try again. It seems to have perked up a bit but mouth still opens and closes. Mouth a bit floppy too.
