I just got my first mantis shrimp. I belive he/she is a gondactylus viridis. He's about 1 1/4" long and greyish green in color. It came in some live rock at the lfs.
I just got him yesterday but he has taken food from me twice squid and octopus on a piece of sharpened airline tubing. I put some small hermits and snails in with him but he hasnt attacked any of them.
His home is an allglass 5.5 gallon with about 2" of sand and some small pieces of liverock. Equipment for the tank are, 2 9watt pc's, a millennium 1000 powerfilter, plastic visi-therm stealth heater,and 2 aquaclear 301's on a blueline tsunami wavemaker.
Being new to these guys I have a couple questions. How offten should should I feed him? What are there growth rates like? How offten will he molt. What are some suitable tankmates? The glass thickness is an 1/8" is this something I need to worry about?
