I wanted to get good shots of them before transferring them into my display. What do you guys think?

those are sweet clams. Any chance sharing where you found them been trying to find some nice maximas

They are pretty small however, I IME have not found small clams to be any more difficult than larger ones. I know people always claim small clams don't do as well. I've had several clams 2" or less and they all have done fine for me. Hopefully this will be the case for these clams as well.

Well, for one their wholesaler sold it to them as a hybrid. Two, it has the mantle of a crocea, w/ the scutes of a maxima. Three, I've never seen a pattern like that on any crocea or maxima.

Quicksilverq, if you are serious google Ocean Treasures and San Francisco.

It's too bad they're in sf. I think I remember going to their store and they had a lot of clams. Good Score!

Croceas have scutes and eventually grow out of them.
It could be either. A hybrid is possible, when it matures you will be able to tell.

Hi ianiwane

It is a shame when i have to ask this, as i have been a long time reader here ,but a first time poster.

Would you be interested in posting on another forum ? no disrespect to anyone on this forum as it is great, but it is a shame when some people can not ask questons about the clams/reef aquariums , because they are banned . i would have thought that forums were based on giving advise and delivering knowledge, as even the best person still needs some form of
advise.

Please note that i am not saying this forum is better or worse just asking if you could post questions/pic's about your clam as these people can not post here anymore.

Kind regards Andrew

P.S No doubt i will be banned for this if i am it is a shame as i am only trying to help out a reef keeping community
