Got my tank set up, through a cycle almost and soon will be ready to start stocking it. Gotta say Scott at Oddball's has been a great help already.

cheers

Welcome to the hobby and the obsession.

Let us know if you need any help. You have a lot of great resources available to help.

Thanks for the welcome.
Here is my tank so far:

75 Gallon Bow front
Hang on the back skimmer / refugium
2 powerheads
Heater
Emperor 400 filter with filter media in it, no bio wheels.

Tank is around 4 weeks old. Sand and 3 of the rocks came from an active tank, the rest of the rock is old coral from a tank I had almost 10 years ago. Rock has been sitting in my shed for several years sealed in a tub.

There were tons of hitchhikers on the rock from the active tank as well as 6 button polyps. Now there are like 15 polyps, feather dusters, and some Astra star's. Also started seeing some type of "pods" in the tank. About a week ago I added a small cleanup crew, 10 red legs and 6 large Astra Snails. I also have a yellow tail damsel swimming around, but he is going to oddballs when I add my first real fish in a few weeks.

Plan on waiting another 2 or 3 weeks and adding a frogspawn or something similar.

Thoughts or suggestions?

I have 4 65 watt power compacts running right now. I also have a hood from another tank with 2 175 watt MH and 2 110 Watt VHO's. I plan on eventually retrofitting the better lighting to this tank if I can figure out a way to cut down the heat. When I put that fixture over the tank it gets past 80 degree's pretty quickly.

I do have a chiller sitting in the garage but since this is a sump-less setup, I don't really have a way to use it.

you can plumb the chiller externally by using an external pump. if you can, put a clip on fan inside the canopy if space allows. also, leaving those lids off the top of the canopy will allow for better evaporation and heat exchange
