hey everyone im new to the forums, ive done my research, and i went to a local fish store, and to my surprise they had 1 mantis shrimp, and it was a peacock mantis! its 1.5 inchs, and i put it on hold, i am setting up my tank right now i have a 10 gallon tank, and moving it to a 20 gallon when it gets better, i have a semi wet/dry hang on filter, and skimmer with a powerhead, getting live rocks, and planning on live sand mix with #3 sand, and coral. is there anything else i need to complete the set up thanks for your help!!!-Tony

a light. there is a good coralife light out there that i use that is 50/50 white and actinic. well do u well. may need to get a make shift support for the light so it dont fall in. but its like $30

Don't forget the ALL important tank cycle.

i would let your tank cycle for at least a week or 2 before you buy a peacock. they are sensitve to water changes and it is probably not the best mantis for you to start with. not trying to get you down, but you really should let your tank cycle before you get it. you also dont have to have any special lighting for the mantis unless you want to have corals in the tank too.
