Well I just want to be part of the club. I live here in Santa Rosa and want to learn more about this hobby/addiction to minimize my mistakes. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the next meeting. Thanks in advance Mike

JKReefer I know the last meeting was 10 days ago. What does it look like in terms for the month of March? Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but with the wife travelling for work and the kids with sports I want to leave some space on the calendar for my fun times. Thanks alot

Whitetigerfish- I'm sure you know as well as the other members if you don't have patience things can crash really quick. I'm here to pick the brains of the other members as to not make any costly mistakes. I know that when one occurs it can get expensive. Its alot like going to school again but this time you definitely have to listen to what the teacher says. Ha Ha Judging by the experience with Salt and reef tanks among the members I sure could learn alot looking forward to meeting you and the rest

I'm not sure the exact date, usually about a month apart. The commitee usually posts a thread as to when and where the next meeting is. Just check out the fourum every once in a while and you'll catch it.

It is usually the second friday of the month which would make it the 13th at 7pm. Oh no another meeting on friday the thirteenth. I'm giving a talk on methods of preventing STD's. That is "Swap Transmitted Diseases" and other related subjects. Remember Quarantine. Maybe Jake or Bob could nail down a specific place

Oh yeah! Depending on weather (warming trends greatly appreciated), fishing at Slonoma begins to pick up generally in mid March. Usually fairly sloppy for Slonoma in mid April through the end of May. Slonoma is still very low for this time of year (about 15' from pool). This is the latest it has been this low in my 14 years of keeping an eye on it. I'll get ahold of you somehow when I hear the bite has begun to pick up. Feel free to ping me if you are wondering what's up.

A really good, considerate nonboater brings tasty amber frothy beverages to share. :D

How do you like to fish? Are you a reaction strike guy? Worms? Jigs? Swimbaits? It doesn't really matter, because as the boater I'll be doing what I want. But I am slightly curious. ;)

And you'll need to be proficient with the net to net all the hogs I intend to catch. And with a camera, to take pictures of me with said hogs.

BTW, all the frags I got from you have gone on to prosper greatly. The undata is one of my favorites although it went through a brutal rtn which resulted in my fragging off and keeping the heatlhy part. The wee purple rim Monti cap that was the size of a slim potato chip broke into two pieces and now each is the size of a hockey puck. Wait, you left coast born guys don't know what a hockey puck is, do you? Let's just say a 3-4 inch circular disk about an inch thick.

Your hilarious man. I think I know where to get some of that frothy beverage. I might even be able to get my hands on some unbelieveable home made stout if you like the dark stuff.

Most of my fish have been caught on rubbers rigged many ways. I just started fishing heavily last year and didn't get to fish the spawn. I have plenty of crank baits and ratl traps to test out this year. I even bought a new lipless cracklin rap I can't wait to try. gotta go to work.

We're going to have a fun time. I see you're used to getting up early. We'll want to be blasting off from the launch ramp when it's just light enough to avoid running into things.

I am mostly a jig / worm guy though a good fisherman throws what the fish are biting, not what his favorite lures are. I still have problems with that. My largest bass, 9.22lb from Clear Lake, came on a 10" power worm. My 2nd largest, 8.4lbs from Clear Lake, came on a purple lipless crank. And my 3rd largest, 8.3 from Sonoma, whacked a large spinnerbait. It was the first fish I caught on my boat and was my largest for a number of years.

I like hoppy ales more than darker beers, but I would be interested in sampling an awesome homemade stout, thanks. I used to brew, back when I only had one kid and no reef tank.

 Fair enough.

Growing up I played a fair amount of pond hockey, which is something that doesn't seem to exist here. That's all.

Go Sharks!

Hey Mike and Ken maybe we should have a Reefing Bass tourney. Just a fun outing to get out and fish. I just bought my licence for this year and I am waiting for some weather to test it out. I fished a few times at Riverfront with a tube last year and caught my biggest fish ever on a senko at Sonoma out of my inflateable kayak. A 10lber that I released.

Mike maybe at your favorite ponds in Windsor?

Well I fish for just about anything but primarily fresh water. Hence the name. It matchs the license plate as well. Love to go to Clear Lake for Bass in early spring, Spring Lake in float tubes as well as the River front ponds. Then along comes the Trout bite, and I head to the Sierras. But have done some Bass and Kokanee fishing in Central Cal. Go out to the coast with a buddy and go Rock Cod fishing in between.
Have a guided trip for Steelhead in a couple of weeks. But what I really want to do this year is get some of that Humboldt Squid. Any takers on going out on a Six Pack Boat???
That obsession takes a lot of my time, Also currently trying to get my Tortoises to breed. Haven't figured out the best music for them yet. They just can't seem to get their groove on to Barry White so I just have to wait and see.

Meeting Date and time

Meeting Date and time

Welcome to the Club.

We meet the second Friday of every month at 7pm, except we went dark in january this year. We tend to meet at a restaurant except for the Summer meeting(Someone's house) on a Saturday afternoon and we do the Christmas meeting at a members house.

We encourage members to host meetings at their house as a way of seeing each others tanks. Hint Hint!

Bob

A Reefing Bass fun tournie sounds, well, fun!

247FSHN you sound like a true multispecies angler. I'm more a "when in Rome' guy, in that I primarily fish for the three black bass we have here (largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass). When in Montana I pick up my fly rod and cast for trout. I love dry fly fishing but go wet / nymph / streamer when appropriate. And then on the Block Island it's saltwater for blues and stripers.
