New Nano 14g Bio Cube with Protein skimmer

hi,

I have a question. I am planning on adding a protein skimmer that I'd like to have outside hidden in the aquarium stand and have tubing running up and in the tank. one coming in the skiimer and return.
Would this work?
I'm planning on getting Aqua C Urchin In-Sump Protein Skimmer.

Hang on Protein skimmers is out of the question because i would not want to cut up my tank to make it fit.

I don't think it would work the way you're thinking. The water will always travel to the lowest place it can and therefore would overflow the skimmer if I'm thinking correctly.

You'd likely need a sump to do what you're implying.

Its possible to run an external skimmer but its not easy to do and to do it off an overflow is tricky. The urchin isnt plumbed to do that, you need a skimmer with plumbing to keep the water in a closed loop if you will. I would set it up to where a pump pulls the water out of the tank, sent to the skimmer and then returned via another pump or you could try to rig a u tube to do it but again..tricky.
