A few weeks ago petco was having a $1 per gallon sale and I got the oceanic 33 cube for $33 (normally $150). I decided to set-up a reef for a relative of mine and I thought I'd share.

Tank: Oceanic 33 cube

Lighting: 150W sunpod MH

Filtration: bak pak skimmer w/MJ 1200

Circulation: 2x MJ 900

Here are the pics of the tank when we were setting it up. I'll post more pics as the tank develops. :)

Don't worry it's suppose to be a bi-annual sale, and besides that all the cubes were gone within the first day.

The only day I was able to make it there for the sale was the last day of it. What I did was I called all the petco's in sac and asked if they had one in stock and the only one that did I had hold it for me til I got there.

Thanks. I can't believe how thick the glass is on this thing.

i had to drill 4 holes in mine.. w/ a pencil tip diamond bit and dremel... :eek1: but aWESOME deal.. i picked min up for 99.99 tank ..and 99.99 for stand at petsmart .

Update:
We installed the bak-pak protein skimmer and a clip fan. We will be adding a clean up crew tomorrow. Water quality is perfect. It cycled really fast because we used fully cured LR and LS. The hithiking button polyps, hairy mushroom, and bumble bee snail are all doing great.

I picked up four of the Oceanic cubes during that sale b/c it was such a good deal.
And I already had a Finnex 20g cube not setup sitting in my basement too.
So now I have five....but it was just too good of a deal to pass up at $33/ea !!

Can you tell more about how you drilled holes in yours, any other details and pics?
I want to take atleast one of mine and try drilling my own holes...I'm thinking three total holes all in the back pane of glass, one at the very top for drain, and two returns back into the tank hooked to a SCWD. (http://www.reefcentral.com/modules.php?s=&name=Reviews&rop=showcontent&id=9)

Thanks,

BTW, nice start so far! Hope it's ok for me to browse your Sacremento forum! ;) I'm just trying to get ideas for my cube setup before I start.

Thanks! No problem guys. I addded about 7 more lbs. of live rock and it looks a ton better. I'll post an updated shot either tonight or tomorrow.

Looking really nice Jordan! I'm looking for a bigger tank, 140 or so. Man, I would have been there day one of that sale!

Thanks! Just dealing with a small algae bloom now. CUC is helping. Here is the new aquascape/LR. :)
