new octi tank

I have had a small reef before but this is going to be my first octi tank. I was wondering if a 29 gallon is big enough. I was going to have the back drilled so I could have a closed loop system with a canister wet/dry and then find some way to get a skimmer in there. I am going to seal the top with silicon and then cut a small hole that will be sealed when not feeding the octi. Any help with this would be appericated thanks :)

29 gal is big enough for a dwarf. As far as sealing the top with silicone, I'd say thats not a good idea. The reason being octopus need very clean water. You will need to remove the crab parts left behind.Plus weekly water changes. Just figure a way to lock it externally or weight it down with something heavy. Also use weather stripping to seal off any tiny gaps on that lid. P.S. thanks for keeping our costal areas safe.
