The newly designed Octopus skimmers will be hitting our warehouse early next week. The new models have the same style neck and riser as the "Hurricone" skimmers that have recently come out. The skimmers will be ran by an OTP 1000, 2000, or 3000 pump sporting the newer pinwheel design in them. At price points from $185 to $330, these should be a huge hit for those needing a high performance external skimmer on a budget.

Please let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll try to answer them. These are brand new, and we are getting the first shipment of them today or tomorrow. Once we get them in I will get one hooked up and play around with it to see what the performance is like. I'm expecting it to be pretty good!

arrrg!!!!

arrrg!!!!

Another one to toss in the hat. lol. Please keep us updated on these jeremy. I am interested in the 200.

I am trying to decide weather I should get the 200 extreme or the DNWB 200 and cant find any head to head comparisons, I understand that the extreme draws more air with the purple needle wheel but does that make it a better skimmer? The DNWB is a recirculating skimmer doesnt that offstet the extreme pulling more air?

They are both about the same price so I am just trying to figure out wich one grabs more gunk.

Looking at air draw alone is not a good means of determining one skimmer being better than the other. The air draw, in conjunction with the water flow, as well as neck size and skimmer chamber size all come into play.

I can tell you that between the two you are looking at the DNWB 200 is going to be the better performer. The larger body, and the better neck design and size is going to make up for any loss in air draw. The processing power of the DNWB 200 is much greater as well.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thanks that is the answer I was hopeing for, I like the idea of having more room in my sump.
I find it strange that they would price these skimmers so close, but hey I'm not going to complain.
