He put a little smiley face after his statement, which one might interpret as being sarcastic.

Thanks Chris! ;)

Leishman, is yours (assuming the same sp.), a fast, moderate or slow growing acro?

It's a weed. That's why when my colony died (details here ) I was not concerned as i had a frag in the frag tank that survived (5"x3") and that every reefer in DC/MD/VA has this coral in their tank. The mother was ~16"x14" for the lower level, and a split upper level roughly 14"x7".

Marc - I received the Hyacinthus pictured above from Leishman. That coral is no doubt similar to the ORA Red Planet. I am not 100% sure if they are the same.

I have the ORA Red Planet. I've actually had it for some time now. (Got it before the release). It has kept it's color and grows at a decent rate. I just hope that it will continue to keep the green within the branches as it grows out.

My green was there with 10k and new actinics. As the actinics got old, I lost the green. I now run 20k Radiums w/T5 ATI blue+ bulbs. Who knows what color that will bring.

You can see the green in this old pic

but not in the one taken a few days before it died

And NO signs of green (or red) here...

No problem Chris.

Leishman, don't let Chris steal that PM colony, I need a frag of it first.

LOL!!! Hopefully I'll get the colony tonight. Right Rik....? :D

I picked this up yesterday as I had to see how similar it really is. Looks pretty good and a little bit different then the mirabilis, actually. Mine is a bit light so hopefully it will color up nicely.

Am I the only one that's not as impressed?
I've seen red table acro's that look pretty similar. certainly doesn't cost $80/frag either.

I got mine yesterday and it was in the light side as well but still I am very happy with it! I saw polyp extension right away, it is in strong indirect flow and about 12"-14" below direct metal halide

I had a coral years ago from Reefstuff.com (now soutassaltwater.com) that they called Acropora anthocercis.
This is the best picture I have of mine when I had it.

and a top down picture of it...

Not sure, but it looks like the coral in the first post, and grows into a nice red table coral. soutas sells pretty nice sized frags of them for $25.

Yup. Anthocercis it could be. I'm pretty sure yours is as is this

Certainly with natural sunlight you would expect more of a dull coloration as most of their corals display out of the vats. That could give you a green base, but who knows.

Gotta get one of these.

Just got mine in a hour ago. It's in our ZEOvit system. They opened up right away.
