I would mount it upright because it's a frag. It will table naturally as it grows.

placing them in the upright position will give them instant saleability.

But placing them sideways will give you a better colony in the long run. Also in a shorter amount of time you will have a biger colony. Its not like in the wild they land right side up, its not natural to mount frags standing up right. By having them mounting them side ways you are giving more surface area for the coral to encrust, plus you are giving a lot more of the coralights better flow and light than you would with a frag standing up right.

I was waiting for someone to post that ^^^ . Couple things...

1. You're a moron. (or maybe you just enjoy pushing peoples buttons to get a response)
2. It's under a Radium only.
3. I don't even own a photoshop program.
4. It is an underwater, point and shoot camera so...YES I'm pretty sure white balance is off since it's set on auto. I'm not a photographer. Nothing like a macro shot to only focus on the frag and not things around it, huh? Nothing else in that pic is blurry is it??

This place is so great for people like you expressing their unfounding opinions. I invite anyone to come here and see this in person if it MUST be proven to you to look that nice.

Here's another "photoshop" for ya. Oh and btw the coralline on the plug really isn't THAT purple either. We all know it's soooo difficult to get that color purple on coraline. It just must be photoshopped. :rolleye1:

Here's a closer view for you. It's fake purple...

I've had mine since the week it came out and in the first week or ten days it lost a bit of the green but it came back after moving it to its happy place.

This thing is a weed I must say, I think it's going to be one of the nicest ones I have if it tables out like they say. One of the tips is quite light (the closest to the light) but as it grows out the color comes with it. I have one other acro that does this but most of the others don't so I'm not sure if this is the norm or it's the placement.

Can we see a pic of when you got it and of it now?

Also were did you place your in your tank?

Thanks

Chris

I got my red planet and was wondering what the best placement was. I am running 250W DE MH 20k Helios and I have a 30" deep tank. Would the red planet be happiest in the middle, top or bottom of the tank?

This is the week I got it, I was the second in Texas to get one, from what the LFS told me, if you can buy that.

This is it today...

I have a Solana 34 witha Sunpod 150 HQI with XM 15K and the piece about 11 inches down from the light, medium flow I guess.

It's a crap shoot with me and the camera so sorry how these turned out but I think you can see the growth.

hmmmm... lots of concern about photoshopping here. Let me say and I'm sure cato isn't looking for defenders that trying to misrepresent isn't his style.

I'm pretty certain what you are seeing in the eggcrate has nothing to do with photoshop and everything to do with chromatic abberation (something common with medium to low quality lens's) (sorry cato) This is a perfect example where light that travels through the lens bends at different levels so that the end result is common to have blue and violet colors be out of focus thus creating the double image. CA gets even worse when the lens is pushed to its limits (like macro or zoom) Sorry to be a bore....just wanted to join the know it all group without knowing it all.....;)
