My rose milli has a green base too. Mine wasn't sold to me as an ORA though.

A week ago I did some re-arranging and broke off my red planet to re-mount it. It broke off at the base and left a liitle bit of it on the LR. I noticed today, where the spot is, polyps are showing and there is some green color. Maybe I'll have a new frag growing without really trying!

i cant tell you what to do.. but i can tell ya whats not working for green for me
about 6" under the water surface with 250wP14kDEs on M80 10" above the water
i do have one of the most saturated pink corals i've ever kept though... not a light pink like a birdnest or stylo... a really rich pink

I have 5 pieces of this in my tank and every one looks different. Some have more green than others. I can't sat that the green has to do with the lighting because I have three at the same level in the tank: 1 is all red, 1 has a little bit of green and the other has a lot of green within in its branches and around the base.
That's a ridiculous shot, I'll send you a pm about adding it to my ora red planet page. WOW

It's funny you updated this thread. I received the red planet colony from Kip this week. It is really bright red. The base just has a hint of green, but it's hardly visible. After reading about this coral I decided to place it further down in the tank to try to bring out the green base. I am running 2 12k 250w Reeflux bulbs in Lumenbrite reflectors in a 24" deep tank. I placed the coral on a rock about 8 to 10 inches from the bottom of the tank. A superman montipora near that location has almost doubled in size in about a 6 week time frame. Is it the general consensus that less light will help bring out the green base more with this coral?

Less light will definetly bring out more green. My main colony is about I would say 7-8" from the top of my tank and only the base itself has remained green. I have a few frags that I have lower in the tank (probably another 5" or better down) which are extremely green with red tips and red polyps.

I would agree that as well as lower intensities heavy blue light which STREAMLINEGFX has will help as well. However I'm thinking as the coral grows into a colony the green will be harder to see even under the conditions mentioned.

I've had a piece since it came out and it turned a little brown at first. Then I went away for a week and when I came back it was green as all hell. It's survived and kept the color even after going away for another week and moving the tank. It's right under a 14K 150 watt pheonix in a 10 gallon. I used to keep it a little lower in the tank before it was mounted, but didn't see a difference once I mounted it up higher, as it gained the green back before I moved it. It's is now super green. Like a really nice, dark, slimer green. The polyps and coralites are also an nice red too. There is a piece down lower where it was before that just encrusted on the rock before I mounted the coral and it started out entirely green. The polyps are jsut starting to turn red and it is still yet to branch.

This is under 2 150w DE Phoenix 14ks, but it did most of the growing under hammy 10ks. It's middle tank just below the middle of the tank.
I have another in my big tank under 250w DE Phoenix 14ks that is going to be VERY impressive. It's tabling, but had grown down the plug and about an inch onto the rock all around it.
I really think the greener your frag, the more central it was in the mother colony. The more pink, more from teh edges. My new growth is greening on both colonies though!

Well, I got home and took a few pictures tonight.
It's in the center of the picture, right above the superman montipora. Hopefully it will do ok there under the 2 Reeflux 12k 250w.
