new osmolator malfunctioning

Roger,

left several voicemails with you but have not heard back from you yet. thought I'll try hear.

I bought a new osmolator about 2 mo ago (just started using it about 2 weeks ago)and the main sensor seems to malfunction. It will turn on sporadically at times and fully drain my 10g reservoir even with the sensor fully submerged. Tried washing the sensor with soap per manual without any improvement. There is minimal bubble in my sump and I don't see any bubbles accumulating on the sensor.

I am approaching the the time limit to return it where I purchased it and it was recommended to me to discuss with you prior to doing so.

Any suggestions?

thanks,

Jeff

If it is dumping the full 10g reservoir it sounds like a siphon as the backup float should kill the pump as well as the pump has about a 10 minute time limit on it as a second fail safe. Do you actually hear the pump running the whole time?

I agree, that pump would not pump 10g in the 10min time out before it kicks off. make sure your line goes above the top off container, and preferably has a siphon break.

Not sure about the sensor, after you get the siphon taken care off, you may be able to get more accurate on/off with the sensor.

My apologies, we are not taking phone calls or shipping orders this week as we need to do inventory, a major software upgrade and year end bookkeeping, it seems I messed up updating our voice message for the week that we would not be taking phone calls. Please check into what Shawn and mc-cro have posted. The osmolator should only be able to pump for 10 minutes continuously and in that time it should only dispense about 3 gallons of water, I think a siphon is the most likely culprit here. The sensors should go in the sump but the top off hose must go up to the tank, having it directed into the overflow is the ideal.

it has nothing to do with siphoning. I may not have stated the problem well, the draining of the reservoir tank is over a few days, it is not running continuously. even though the sensor is constantly below the water line it still will register as not full and start the pump for a while then stop. It continues with this cycle intermittently over a few days until the reservoir is nearly empty.
No siphoning can occur, the reservoir is below the tank level and the tubing is above the water line going to the tank overflow.
That is why I think it is something with the sensor or controller itself. I placed the float sensor higher up in the sump so it won't activate until water level very high. I wanted to see how well the primary sensory works.

thanks,

Jeff

Roger,

thanks for response I was typing reply as you responded. as stated above, the problem is not related to siphoning.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff,

If you PM me your address I will swap your controller. We can UPS a replacement on Monday with a return label.
